Jóhannes Sigurðsson joins BBA//Fjeldco
Jóhannes Sigurðsson has joined BBA//Fjeldco following his tenure as a judge on Iceland's appellate court, Landsréttur, where he has served since the court's establishment in 2018. Prior to his judicial appointment, he was a partner at Fjeldsted & Blöndal, which later merged with BBA Legal to form BBA//Fjeldco.
His previous roles include serving as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Iceland for an extended period, where he taught tort law, insurance law, and company law. From 2004 to 2006, he was a professor at the Faculty of Law at Reykjavík University, where he conducted research in financial services law authored numerous academic articles on various legal topics while also teaching. From 2001 to 2004, he served as a specialist in financial services at the EFTA Surveillance Authority in Brussels. Throughout his career, he has been a director at Icelandic companies with global operations as well as serving on the boards of several companies both in Iceland and internationally.
Jóhannes graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Iceland and holds an LLM degree from the University of Virginia. He obtained his district court rights of audience in 1988 and Supreme Court rights of audience in 1993.
